| Are there any art secondary schools in Vancouver? |
[Dec. 26th, 2009|01:48 pm] |
So I've been searching in and out for about a week now to transfer to a new school, like the Rosedale Heights School of the Arts or Langely Fine Arts School.... I've heard of Athena at Windermere but that's a little far and I'm looking into something that covers actual ART classes. Has anyone here graduated from one?
Thanks for all the comments on my sushi post by the way! I seriously don't know which one to pick @@ |

| New Years Ideas! |
[Dec. 25th, 2009|09:36 pm] |
Hello all the Vancouverites!
My partner and I from Ottawa will be enjoying New Years in your fair city, but we have no idea what there is available. We can find a lot of clubs and parties, but we were wondering what type of laid-back city events there might be. Music, fireworks, what are your favourite places to go when ringing in the New Year? Thanks! |

| Sewing courses |
[Dec. 24th, 2009|11:44 am] |
Hi Vancouver and Happy Holidays!
I am looking to take a beginners/basic sewing (for learning how to sew with sewing machines) class. I know a bit, but not enough to actually make anything. :(
Any recommendations? I think I would prefer taking classes at a business rather than a continuing education type, but I'm pretty flexible.
I'm in Surrey; travel is not a problem but closer would be better.
Thanks! |

| Happy Holidays Vancouver! |
[Dec. 24th, 2009|07:34 am] |
Hey there Vancouver! I'm off in Edmonton right now visiting with the familial units and feeling homesick for Van. 2 years ago it was the other way around! Anyway, I just thought I'd drop you a line to say hi and wish you well over the coming weeks into the first of many New Year celebrations. I hope you are spending time with people you care about and if not I hope you can connect by phone. Oh, I also wanted to ask you what your favourite Vancouver-related holiday tradition is?
Mine are non-Vancouver but include: - watching the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas - egg nog - annual Solstice party with all my friends - walking the Legislative Grounds to see the lights
So, how about you? |

| Urgent where to find: Replacement Stove Burner? |
[Dec. 23rd, 2009|08:03 pm] |
I don't even know the proper name for what I need, but long story short, the large burner on my stove got into a little incident with a plastic cutting board.
I am supposed to be cooking a very big Christmas Dinner tomorrow and I can't use the little burner's for a few of the things I am cooking (in a large pan)... etc...
I have no idea where to find this, and my landlord is away on vacation!!! I checked the Walmart website because that is the closest store to me, but I seriously need to find one by tomorrow at noon at the latest.
So, anyone know where I can get one? I live in White Rock but I will send out my man if it's further!
Thanks and Happy Holidays to everyone =) |

| Any vegan dishes in Shabusen? |
[Dec. 23rd, 2009|06:38 pm] |
So my family is planning lunch at Shabusen on Granville. I want to bring my girlfriend to meet them and she is vegan. Do they have any vegan dishes at Shabusen?
Thanks!
Edit: My family and I will be probably planning to get the All you can eat option. My aunt told me that if you don't get all you can eat, you can't sit with people who are getting AYCE. Does the AYCE menu have anything vegan? |

Sometimes I see people escorting, I assume, foreign exchange students around the city. Giving them a sort of tour. I'm studying Japanese and I've been thinking that this would be a great opportunity for me to practice and improve while helping some newbies get to know their new home. So, does anyone know where one goes to get hooked up with this kind of position, what kind of requirements there are, etc? |

[Dec. 21st, 2009|11:35 pm] |
Hello Vancouver!
I'm moving tomorrow, and I have some choice pieces of furniture that need to be out of my house by December 31! Pictures and links to Craigslist posts under the cut.
All pieces come from a smoke-free home with one cat. Located in Surrey, near the Gateway skytrain station.
( table, desk, entertainment unit, and couch! ) |

| Asian blankets |
[Dec. 21st, 2009|11:29 am] |
I'm looking for a Chinese/Asian blanket for my parents. They're the super heavy, double layered bed blankets usually with a lot of floral work.
My parents usually get them from vendors at flea markets, but the one on Kingsway closed down and I don't think I have time to make it to the one on Terminal/Main.
It's a last minute idea and I have no time to go from store to store in Chinatown or Richmond, so any specific names of stores or shopping malls would help the most. Thank you!
( They look like this. ) |

| | happy | ] | Well I've had a blast thanks Vancouver! Today I fly back across the pond.
Your hints and tips were appreciated, I didn't get round half the things I wanted to. I will just have to come back again, ahh the hardship.
Highlights include:
Black squirrels (I know can understand the Japanese tourists at home when they get excited about the red and grey ones!) Raccoons - Want! Snow Shoeing up Grouse Mountain - This was just amazing! All the yummy yummy food, diet out of the window. If you haven't been already I highly recommend Vijs. Oh man was the food good. No reservations and a 1.5hr wait was well worth it, not only for the tasty treats they give as you wait. Try the Punjabi heart attacks. Your rain sucks, just as much as it does at home ;) Festival of Light - Very much Alice in Wonderland EDIT:How could I forget... Granville Island Poutine -yum¬
Happy Holidays!
